Sarasota Brewing Company

What could be more ‘down home’, more enveloping, more palate pleasing, and less nouveau everything than the….. Sarasota Brewing Company! We loved everything about it. The location, Gulf Gate Village, so very cool in it’s inauspicious address. The architecture speaks more to what is inside than out, no need to over present itself. The content is the jewel; the Divas adored its unassuming confidence. The Divas were down to three with the added benefit of Detail Diva’s husband (yes there is even one of those, rare though they are) and their lovely adorable pre-pubescent boy nephews. What could be better? I will tell you. The crowd is generational, familiar, and friendly. The decor is that of a true brewpub, fraternity type mugs hang from every nook and cranny waiting for their owner’s arrival, the huge brewing tanks ready to begin their work of hand crafting the brew. Our patient wait staff received our order and my drink was served. I ordered a ‘honey brew’, dark and a tad sweet, great it was. I can’t remember what the others had but there were no complaints and our Adventure/Daring Diva sweetly sipped her water. Daring she is in other ways (thank goodness she returned Matt’s moped after slipping away with it at top speed). We all delved into the “best ever” sweet potato fries served with a delectable sweet mustard. My Veggie Burger was soul satisfying, the Salmon Burger was very round (never having seen a round salmon), and Detail Diva and her crew feasted on their Cobb Salads. A choice they always make when the destination is the ‘Sarasota Brewing Company’, a testament to their fine taste and described as “a crazy sensation, the blending of nuts, blue cheese, garden greens, chicken, olives, eggs, strawberries topped with a raspberry vinaigrette dressing with a bite.” Sarasota Brewing Company holds the title of ‘Reader’s Choice Award Winning Menu’ and Sarasota’s first and only micro brewpub. Be comforted by the food, the staff, the customers, the huge fireplace and even the multiple TV’s, it is after all Sarasota’s sport connection. Long may they live.
